BIO
|
Steve Renaker, Trombone, has been a freelance
player in San Francisco and New York City for nearly ten years.
After receiving his Bachelor of Music degree from Oberlin
Conservatory of Music, Steve completed his Master's degree in
Music at Yale University. He spent three summers at the Aspen
Music Festival and one summer each at the Music Academy of the
West and the National Orchestral Institute. When not playing his
horn, he works as a software engineer and plays soccer.

Jadine Louie, Horn, studied with James Callahan
and performs occasionally with various community orchestras,
chamber ensembles, and musical theater productions. She earned
a degree in Mechanical Engineering at UC Berkeley, but now
conducts and teaches band/wind ensemble full time. She has
directed or coached many Bay Area ensembles including the
All-City Honor Orchestra, Swingfever Big Band, Symphonic Tornado,
and the Bay Area Women's Philharmonic brass section, and is
currently Artistic Director of the San Francisco Lesbian/Gay
Freedom Band, the official band of San Francisco.

Steve Forker, Trumpet, has been performing for
over twenty years. While earning his Bachelor of Music Performance
at University of Colorado and for some years after, Steve freelanced
with the Longmont Symphony, Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra, Colorado
Wind Ensemble, Denver Concert Band and numerous jazz, rock, and r&b
bands. After moving to San Francisco in 1997, Steve continued to
play trumpet composed music for theater and concert performances.
In addition to Fog City Brass, he presently performs with Punk Rock
Orchestra, Bay Area Classical Harmonies, and is Music Director and
Composer for Kinetic Theory Experimental Theatre and composed
original music for their 2001 Best-of Fringe Festival award winning
"Stranger and Stranger" as well as this year's "Silent Movie".

Francis Upton, Tuba, has been playing over twenty
five years. In addition to the Fog City Brass, he currently
performs with the Peninsula Symphony, Oakland Civic Orchestra,
Ohlone Wind Orchestra.
Francis has performed solo tuba on Brian Holmes'
"Rober Bobo Plays the Tuba" with the Cantabile Children's Chorus in
Palo Alto. A regular attendee at the Humboldt Brass Chamber
Workshops, he has studied with Tony Clements and Peter Wahrhaftig,
and has a strong commitment to brass chamber music.

Matt Paves, Trumpet, received the majority of his
music education in his hometown of Bakersfield, California studying
both piano and trumpet. His uncle, a professional trumpeter, took
Matt under his wing and helped him become one of the top players in
the state by the age of sixteen. Matt moved to San Luis Obispo where
he earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. However, most
of his time was spent as principal player in the University Wind
Orchestra, Brass Ensemble, Jazz Band and numerous chamber
ensembles. Matt earned a Music Minor in Trumpet Performance and
performed regularly with the San Luis Obispo Chamber Orchestra,
Cuesta Wind Ensemble, and San Luis Obispo Symphony. Today Matt
can be found freelancing in the San Francisco Bay Area.
